What Is CEREC?
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. It’s an innovative system that combines 3D imaging, computer-aided design (CAD), and in-office milling to create custom dental crowns and bridges. CEREC eliminates the need for messy impressions, temporary restorations, and multiple appointments.
CEREC Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps that fit over damaged or decayed teeth. It restores the tooth’s shape, strength, and appearance.
CEREC crowns are made from a single block of ceramic material that matches the color and translucency of natural teeth. They’re strong enough to withstand everyday chewing forces.
CEREC Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a prosthetic that replaces one or more missing teeth. It consists of two crowns anchored to the neighboring teeth, with artificial teeth suspended in between. CEREC bridges are fabricated from the same high-quality ceramic material as CEREC crowns, ensuring a seamless, lifelike appearance.

CEREC Restoration Process at Fox View Dental
Consultation
Your initial consultation will consist of a thorough dental exam, including digital X-rays, a review of your medical history, and questions about your smile goals. This information allows Dr. Chad to determine if CEREC restorations are right for you.
We also offer sedation dentistry to patients who are nervous or in for a long procedure.
Design
If you and Dr. Yenchesky decide CEREC restorations are right for you, our team will take digital images and impressions of your smile. These digital images and impressions serve as blueprints for your CEREC crown or bridge.
Preparation
To prepare your teeth for your crown or bridge, we’ll apply a local anesthetic to the soft tissues around the tooth or teeth. Then, Dr. Yenchesky will remove a small amount of enamel from these teeth, shaping them into a base that can hold your crowns.
Manufacturing
Our in-office milling machine will craft your CEREC crown or bridge out of solid ceramic. This process takes less than two hours, and a crown may take as little as twenty minutes.
Installing Your CEREC Restoration
Once your CEREC restoration is ready, Dr. Yenchesky will make sure it’s to your liking. He’ll also check the fit of the crown or bridge before securing it with a dental adhesive. Once your CEREC crown or bridge is in place, you can start enjoying your new smile right away.
Caring For CEREC Restorations
While CEREC crowns and bridges are incredibly durable, proper care is essential to maximize their lifespan. Follow these tips to keep your new restorations looking beautiful:
- Brush twice daily and floss once a day. Plaque buildup can cause decay around the edges of your restoration.
- Avoid chewing on hard objects like ice, nuts, or pen tips. This could chip or crack the ceramic material.
- If you grind your teeth at night, ask Dr. Yenchesky about a nightguard to protect your restorations.
- Attend regular dental cleanings and exams. Our De Pere dentist will check your CEREC crowns and bridges for any issues.
With good oral hygiene habits and preventive care, your CEREC restorations can last 10 to 15 years or longer. Don’t hesitate to contact Fox View Dental if you have any concerns about caring for your new smile.
