We recognize that many people who are exploring cosmetic dentistry have a variety of questions. Cosmetic dentistry can be the solution for people seeking to enhance their smile. Some want to look younger and reverse the signs of aging, some may be insecure about their smile or have an upcoming event to look their best for.

Before we begin a smile makeover, we take the time to understand your goals and discuss any questions you have regarding the treatment that is right for you. Along with always providing free cosmetic dentistry consultations, we’ve compiled the most frequently asked questions from our own patients to help you learn more. It is our wish to answer as many of those questions as possible before you ever walk through our door for your first visit.

Can I afford cosmetic dentistry?

For many, this is the most important first question. The good news is, there are a number of cosmetic dentistry options available and a variety of price points. Some are partially covered by dental insurance, some are not covered at all. We at Fox View Dental diligently work to maximize your insurance benefits and offer a variety of payment options for every budget. Learn more about CareCredit!

Does cosmetic dentistry hurt?

Modern dentistry has come a long way in the area of pain mitigation. We use medication to help you stay relaxed and pain-free during your dental procedure. The type and amount of sedation used depends on your personal needs.

Can I get a cavity after my cosmetic procedure?

Regardless of the cosmetic solution you and your dentist choose, decay of your natural teeth is still possible. As always, proper oral hygiene can reduce the risk of tooth decay; but if you were prone to tooth decay before your cosmetic procedure, you’ll still be prone to it after, though veneers and other restorations
do not decay.

Do veneers stain?

Porcelain veneers have a smooth finish and rarely show any color change or pick up much surface stain. With porcelain veneers, you can drink coffee and wine and your porcelain veneers will still look great. Any small amount of surface stain can usually be removed with gentle routine brushing. Of course, you should also have your teeth polished by a qualified hygienist 2 to 4 times per year.

Why or do I still need cleanings?

Teeth cleanings are essential not just for clean teeth, but a healthy mind and body as well. Many people think of the mouth as separate from the rest of their body. But, of course, it’s all connected; and health problems in your mouth can be an indicator of disease in other parts of the body. It can even be the cause of some diseases, including dementia and heart disease. So you’ll need to continue with regular teeth cleanings for two reasons: To help prevent diseases in the rest of your body, and to prevent gum disease and tooth loss.

Can I get veneers if I have periodontal disease?

Periodontal disease won’t necessarily preclude you from getting veneers. However, it will have to be treated before you can go proceed to getting veneers. Healthy gums are essential to getting good impressions of your teeth, and the best possible fit for your new veneers.
